The wine had quite an intense garnet color and dark, deep aromas with notes of mineral and tar alongside those of licorice and raspberry. The mouthfeel was distinct, tannic, with a nice acidity ensuring that it will age well, while the finish was very long with a slightly bitter aftertaste."

It is evolved and showing its age - if one can get past its nose, the palate is grippy and intense with classic Barolo firm acidity and floral characters. Not as good as the bottle enjoyed 2 years ago in Paris. Tasted in: Singapore. Maturity: Drink."

It may seem to have reached the peak of its bottle-aging aroma but it still maintains its integrity. Its aroma is a bewitching floral bouquet dominated by roses, pansies and geraniums, together with typical fruity notes, a touch of watermelon, a tad of holly and a dash of slightly sappy pine needles. The taste is very taut, fresh, energetic and enticing. This does not achieve perfection because the finish is not long enough, up it is right up there."

"The color is such a bright red that it would be advisable to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. The bouquet is what you'd hoped it would be but did not expect from such a young Cascina Francia, so articulated. There is no trace of vinosity, it is bold and persuasive, confidential and merry. An astounding, shameless bouquet, the mineral scents wed violets of thought with shredded roses. The dominating fruit scents are melon, watermelon and medlar and they come to life with breathing. The spectrum becomes more ample, extends to include menthol and balsamic. The taste is solemn, a great body of superb proportions. All things considered it is already excellent today."
