"Historically, this was Andeluna's first top wine (its first vintage was the 2003). It's from a selection of parcels at the winery's property in Gualtallary, where they were one of the pioneers, with vineyards planted in 1997. This year's blend is 38% malbec, 33% cabernet sauvignon, and 20% cabernet franc, and the rest is merlot. After 18 months in barrels, this is a highly concentrated wine with lots of fruity flavors, firm acidity, and spicy tones. Firm tannins back up a powerful structure--consider aging this in the bottle."

The cold 2016 vintage has clearly left its signature here, with herbal notes from the cabernet franc that dominate the nose, while the intense red fruits of the malbec do the same on the palate.
